Shows I’ve Been Binge-Watching

A flaw of mine is ignoring most show recommendations I receive from friends while starting other shows or rewatching shows I’ve already seen. I don’t do it on purpose, because I’m usually waiting for the right moment to be ready to devote time to something new. I still enjoy listening to friends talk about shows they love. Whether you’re looking for something new to watch or just want to see what I watch, I hope there is something that interests you!

  • Babylon Berlin: If you don’t like captions, you have a big storm coming. Although I find it somewhat hard to keep up with the plot, this German show that’s set in the 1920’s is hard to resist. It revolves around crime, politics, and tiptoeing around the strict society. I love that it shows the dark, grotesque ambiance that intrigues me more than the stereotypical glamour of the Roaring Twenties… because I don’t wish I was born in “the good ol’ days,” Karen. On a serious note, it does have some serious material that you should be aware of before watching, such as suicide and sex scenes. Because of this, I typically watch only one to two episodes at a time.
  • Glitter Force: Before you ask if this is a children’s show, it technically is. It’s Netflix’s adaptation of an anime, which is known as Precure. A group of young girls come together and use their powers to protect the world from creatures. I admit that it can be silly at times, but that’s what you signed up for when watching cute, magic-themed anime. I love watching extremely positive things that are polar opposite of what many shows and social media have.
  • Gourmet Makes: This is a YouTube series on Bon Appetit’s channel. Claire Saffitz experiments with food by doing her best to recreate classic candies and snacks. I have a huge crush on Claire, and I relate to her being known for her pessimism. Watching it makes me feel like I know everyone working in the kitchen. I think this show is starting to become popular, but it may already be since I’m not always up-to-date on what is trending.
  • My Favorite Murder: I cannot even explain how much I love this podcast. Since I finished every episode several months ago, I just ended up starting from the beginning again. If you don’t know what this show is, MFM is a crime podcast by two women that add lighthearted humor to make it easy to listen to day or night. Karen and Georgia make you feel like you’re just another one of their friends as they discuss their interests and personal lives. Although I can be a baby when it comes to scary stuff, I rarely have to turn the podcast off from consuming too many dark stories.

I really enjoy this list of shows, because it ranges from something I watch in the dark with snacks to something I listen to on the go. I would love to know if you watch any of these shows or if you have any show recommendations I need to check out!
